ACTIVE AND PASSIVE MOVEMENT TECHNIQUES
Based on Hatha Yoga and Feldenkrais movement therapy offers:

Passive and active movements combined with hands-on techniques release habitual tension patterns and re-educate your nervous system to healthier function. This is achieved through direct work on soft tissue structures, passive movement cues and active movement routines for home practice. Gentle touch cues are used to engage proprioception (your internal ability to feel and perceive) and to facilitate postural alignment, permitting your soft tissues to return to a state of supple strength. The combination of movement and touch allows your system to efficiently integrate changes resulting from release of obsolete holding patterns. This approach recognizes that compromise in one area of the body adversely affects the whole, just as improved function in any part advances the functioning of the whole being.
CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY is a powerful therapy based on the creation and maintenance of a space in which the self-regulation process unfolds. My balanced and grounded approach to cranialsacral therapy is based on study of several different schools of thought and practice. Working with very light touch (less than a quarter of an ounce, the weight of a dime) we can interact with the structure of the central nervous system, the fluids of the body, and the life energy that animates us. Holding a space for the therapeutic process to unfold, deep listening and reflection, intention and suggestion are all part of the healing process in craniosacral therapy.
The craniosacral perspective, allows us to work directly with the ordering principals and fundamental intelligence of the body. Working with subtle energies as they express through rhythmic pulsations in the body, the therapist can interact with this body wisdom to facilitate the release of physical, mental and emotional patterns that are the underlying cause for symptoms as they express in their manifest forms.
POLARITY THERAPY works with the subtle energy that animates the physical form. Developed by Dr. Randolph Stone, D.O., D.C., N.D., Polarity Therapy integrates Eastern and Western medical traditions into a truly holistic approach to healing. Drawing heavily from the traditional medicine of India, Ayurveda, “the science of life” Dr. Stone taught that the basis for all healing is the awareness of life energy: “the real substance behind the appearance of matter and forms.” Polarity Therapy enables us to work with energy in its various levels of manifestation, from the physical anatomy of the body to the subtle energy anatomy. Imbalances in the subtle energies express through physical, mental and emotional systems.
Meditation The Amrit Method of Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation that combines alert awareness and deepest relaxation. The practice of Yoga Nidra takes you to the alpha and theta states of consciousness giving you direct access to the extraordinary powers of your own intuition, creativity, health and abundance.
As a certified Amrit Method Yoga Nidra Facilitator I offer this ancient practice of breath and relaxation in classes and individual sessions.
